Why NOW is the best time to book a cruise.

The cruise lines have been hurt by the pandemic and are going above and beyond to bring back customers.

    * Fewer people on board.  Most cruise lines are operating below 100% capacity as they ramp up from 18 months of being idle.

This enables greater social distancing and better access to cruise facilities and activities.  Is it time for my spa appointment?

    * Attractive pricing.  What better way to motivate more sales then by keeping prices low?  Look for deals like Free Balcony Upgrades,

All Inclusive rates with beverages and specialty dining, Onboard Credits, Free shore excursions.

    * Health AND Safety take center stage.  The cruises have totally revamped their approach to maintain a germ-freeenvironment.

Why you should not be afraid to cruise now.

The cruise lines spent the last 18 months working with experts on developing best ways to:

  •     * Prevent COVID-19 from getting on ships,
  •     * Ways to Reduce the risk of infection on ships
  •     * How to deal with situations that may occur on a ship.

Highlights of the new policies are: 100% testing of passengers and crew prior to embarkation; wearing of masks by passengers and crew onboard; physical distancing in terminals, onboard ships and on private islands; enhanced ventilation systems; enhanced medical capabilities onboard ships and ability to isolate suspected cases; only permit shore excursions that follow cruise operator’s protocols. Cruise lines are using a phased approach before resumption of fulloperations to ensure all protocols are working as intended.  And cruise lines are operating at lower capacity for now to ensure protocols work and to minimize the risk.

The New Cruise Experience (part 1)

What do you need to know before boarding and onboard?
Nearly all cruise lines require Proof of Vaccination AND a negative Covid-19 test taken no more than 2 days before boarding for anyone 12 and older. Some cruise lines are selling pre-cruise antigen tests for home use. Children from 2 to 11 must show a negative PCR test taken no more than 3 days prior to arrival and will need to take another PCR test at the cruise terminal. Also, on cruises of 5 nights or more, children 2-11 will need to take an antigen test onboard within 24 hours of debarkation.  No testing is required of children under 2.

Onboard the ships, cruisers will find a heightened attention to “Healthy Cruising”. This includes 100% fresh, filtered air; medical grade cleaning standards; upgraded medical facilities and expert care; and safe, timely return to home in any scenario.  All crew members, plus staff at private islands are fully vaccinated.  Masks are only required indoors in public areas, unless seated and “actively eating and drinking”, or while visiting public ports of call where local regulations require it. Most cruise lines will have a number of “vaccine only” venues. Shore excursions have been designed with local operators so that vaccinated guests can take any tour or visit a port freely while families with unvaccinated children must purchase a local tour through the cruise line.

Some cruise lines are offering greater flexibility for cruises booked by the end of October or November.  Cancel a cruise up to 48 hours before sailing and receive a 100% Future Cruise Credit.  The new cruise must be booked by April 30,2022, for sailings up to December 31, 2022 or 1 year from the originally scheduled sail date, whichever is later.

The New Cruise Experience (part 2)

       * Robust Apps for messaging onboard, making reservations, getting directions
       * Wearable technology to unlock stateroom, swipe and pay, order food and drinks
       * Onboard venues allow cruisers to flow from one activity to the next in lively, open, and engaging spaces
       *  Smarthomes at sea – innovative solutions such as virtual views in interior statements and al-fresco living in verandah staterooms.

Plus, virtual assistants, device casting andcustom smart-lighting to make you feel at home or anywhere you want to be
On island time – private destinations are an extension of the ship, offering a seamless getaway for additional entertainment, elevate            dining and a mix of relaxed and thrilling experiences
