Theme Parks

Disney World (Orlando)

 

On Wednesday, May 27, it was announced on that Walt Disney World theme parks would have a phased re-opening beginning on Saturday, July 11, 2020 with The Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom.  EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios are expected to re-open on July 15, 2020.  All parks will be subjected to limited capacity.  


Initial re-opening phase will require a park reservation and valid admission for the same park and same date.  New ticket sales and new hotel reservations will not resume until after guests with existing ticket and Annual Passholders have been accomodated.


Some attractions such as parades and fireworks remain closed and services and amenities may be limited.


Disney resorts and hotels will have staggered openings as follows:

Disney Vacation Club & Resorts - June 22, 2020

Disney's Fort Wilderness and Campground - June 22, 2020

Disney Vacation Club resorts in Vero Beach, Florida and Hilton Head, South Carolina - June 15, 2020


The World of Disney retail store at Disney Springs is now open.  Further retail stores will continue to open in the coming weeks.


Modifications to existing travel dates or new reservations may be made for travel dates June 1, 2020 and later.  Modifications to existing reservations may be made if Walt Disney World Resort (WDWR) opens before or after that time.

 

Unexpired multi-day theme park tickets with unused days, or date-specific theme park tickets with a valid use period beginning March 12, 2020 through the closure will automatically be extended to use any date through December 15, 2020.   If you are unable to visit by December 15, 2020, you may apply the value of a wholly unused ticket toward the purchase of a ticket for a future date.

 

Disney is waiving Disney-imposed change and cancellation fees up to the date of check-in for reservations with arrivals through June 30.  If no action is taken before the check-in date for arrivals during the closure period, Disney will automatically cancel the reservation within 7 days of the original check-in date and process any refund due to the original form of payment. 

 

A Special Offer for Eligible Guests – a vacation package offer that includes accommodations at a select Disney Resort Hotel, park admission and a Disney dining plan – valid for arrivals most nights June 1 through September 30, 2020 when booked through May 31, 2020.  Only valid for Guests who previously booked a vacation package or room reservation to stay at a Disney Resort hotel at Walt Disney World Resort (WDWR) for travel dates March 16 to May 31, 2020.  Offer not valid for reservations travelling these dates that were cancelled before March 1, 2020.

 

All FastPass+ reservations scheduled for March 16, 2020 through the closure period will be automatically cancelled.

 

If you have placed an order and received notification that the MagicBands have already been shipped, you will still receive your order.  If you have arranged for your upgraded MagicBands to be delivered to you at your WDWR hotel for an arrival date from March 20 through the closure period, your order will be automatically cancelled and you will receive a refund of the amount you paid for the MagicBands.

 

 

 

Disneyland (California)


Disneyland is now planning a phased re-opening beginning on July 9, 2020.  See below for the proposed schedule.  Existing travel dates may be changed or future reservations may be made for dates on June 1, 2020 and later.   Bookings may be modified before or after the Disneyland Resort opens.


Downtown Disney District:  July 9*

Disneyland Park and Disneyland California Adventure Park:  July 17*

Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel:  July 23*

*All openings are pending State & Local government approvals


Theme park capacity will be limited and will be by advanced reservation only, including Annual Passholders.  As of June 15, 2020, details about the reservation system are still pending.  There is presently a temporary pause on all new ticket sales and Annual Passport sales and renewals.

 

If you have already purchased tickets for Disneyland Resort theme parks:

Unused single day tickets and wholly unused multi-day tickets are valid for a future visit through the end of their respective validity period.  Tickets will provide information on the expiration date.

Unused promotional Child Tickets will have the expiration date extended through December 15, 2020 and the ticket will expire 13 days after its first use or December 15, 2020, whichever occurs first.   If the first visit was made between February 28 and March 13 but did not reach the ticket’s maximum number of uses the ticket’s 13-day expiration period will be extended to December 15, 2020.

 

Room-Only Hotel Reservations

Disney-imposed changes and cancellation fees up to the date of check-in will be waived for reservations arriving through June 30, 2020.  If no action is taken before the arrival date, there will be no penalty or assessed fees for modifying or cancelling the Disneyland Resort hotel room reservation after the check-in date.

 

Room reservations at a Disneyland Resort hotel during the dates that the Disneyland Resort theme parks are closed and through May 31, 2020 may be eligible for a special Disneyland Resort offer valid for arrivals most nights June 1 through December 31, 2020 if booked by May 31, 2020.

 

 

Universal Studios

Select CityWalk venues are now open for guests to enjoy from 4-10pm daily.  Self-parking is complimentary and valet parking is not available at this time.  Specific sites that will remain closed at this time include Blue Man Group, all nightclubs and Universal Cinemark.  Restaurants with limited menus and limited seating availability are opening with some able to accept mobile on-line orders.


Universal Studios Florida, Universal's Islands of Adventure and Universal's Volcano Bay opened to visitors on June 5, 2020.  There will be limited and reduced daily park attendance as well as limited guests allowed on rides.  Reservations will not be required to visit the park.


Universal Studios Hollywood will remain closed at least through May 31.  There have been no announcements to re-open the park at this time.


Universal Hotels Hollywood and Florida remain closed at this time.

 

Orlando:

·         Unexpired single-day tickets that have already been purchased will be valid on any day for 365 days from the purchase date.

·         Unexpired multi-day tickets that have already been purchased will also be valid for first use on any day from 365 days from purchase – but, as always, must be used within seven days of first us

·         Ticket purchases, hotel reservations and packages purchased between March 4 and May 31 qualify for our Stress-Free booking policy, which means they may be modified or canceled with no fee at least 24 hours prior to arrival.  Covers travel dates through August 31, 2020.

·         Universal's Endless Summer Resort – Dockside Inn and Suites did not open March 17 as planned.   A new opening date will be announced at a later time.

 

Hollywood:

          Universal Studios Tickets purchased for park visits during the anticipated closure period, from March 14 through May 31, will be automatically extended for use through December 18, 2020. Just bring your existing ticket to the front gate turnstile when you visit. If you cannot visit during this time, you can apply the value of a wholly unused ticket toward a new purchase.

Tickets purchased for a date once the theme park has reopened will be fully valid for use on the original date selected. If you cannot visit on that date, you can apply the value of a wholly unused ticket toward a new purchase.
